WRI Engineer to Attend Top Carbon Management Program

WRI Senior Engineer Beau Braunberger has been selected to participate in the highly competitive Research Experience in Carbon Sequestration (RECS) program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Fossil Energy, the National Energy Technology Laboratory and Southern Company June 5-15 at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, Alabama.
 
RECS is an intensive 10-day program that combines classroom instruction with group exercises, carbon capture and storage (CCS) site visits and hands-on field activities, including geologic storage site characterization, CO2 monitoring and modeling fluid flow in the subsurface.

The objective of the career development program is to invest in talent that is needed to help meet global CCS deployment needs. Braunberger is among 30 participants selected on the basis of their strong scientific backgrounds and knowledge of carbon capture and storage systems.
