MEG Gets Go-ahead for Oil Sands Demonstration in Alberta

WRI client MEG Energy Corp. of Calgary, Alberta, has filed a regulatory application with the Alberta Energy Resources Conservation Board for a 3,000 bbl-a-day demonstration project near its Christina Lake oil sands project in northeast Alberta. Western Research Institute (WRI) has collaborated on the development of the HI-Q partial upgrading process, and the oil sands process to be demonstrated by MEG includes aspects of the WRI Thermal Enhancement (WRITE) Process patented by the University of Wyoming Research Corporation, dba Western Research Institute.
