Jeramie Adams presented WRI’s upcycling technology for Recycled Asphalt Shingles!
Jeramie Adams, Vice-President of the RenuMAT group (RENewable Upcycling Materials and Asphalt Technologies) at Western Research Institute, was invited to the Annual Meeting of the Asphalt Institute in Orlando in December 2024.
There, he presented WRI’s upcycling technology for Recycled Asphalt Shingles (RAS). The potential of this patented technology was demonstrated thanks to a research grant from the Asphalt Institute Foundation.
In WRI’s process, the old RAS binder is reacted with a bio-solvent to generate a new softer binder that can be used in the production of new asphalt shingles or asphalt mixtures.
WRI’s goal is to further develop this technology with industrial partners and make it reach industrial scale.
