Enhanced Durability

RenuMAT offers a variety of testing methods based on Superpave specifications, proposed methods (such as the Asphalt Binder Cracking Device), and custom testing to validate performance of asphalt products.

RenuMAT is currently leading the National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) 9-60 project focusing on developing new specifications for enhanced durability of asphalt pavements, with particular focus on low temperature cracking. This is especially important for newer as well as modified materials (e.g., polymer modified asphalts) that were not part of the SHRP project in the 1990s (that lead to superpave specifications). The proposed specifications include limits on ΔTc and ΔTf parameters that come from BBR and Asphalt Binder Cracking Device (ABCD) tests.
